Age-Friendly Places Issues Brief

Image
Art & Culture man performing

Summary

Older people want to live in an atmosphere that is age-friendly, safe, and welcoming. We emphasize the need for towns to be better prepared for an inflow of older people searching for locations to settle in, given the rapid growth in the aging demographic.

The issue brief discusses a variety of age-friendly development techniques that grantmakers may be interested in, such as transportation enhancements, home design, health promotion, and social services. We also talk about the obstacles and rewards of developing age-friendly communities, as well as the role of funders in such programs.
