The best way to serve a population is to understand its needs and preferences. In many care settings, such as skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, or interactions with home health providers, LGBTQ+ people frequently fear discrimination from providers if their sexual orientation or gender identity is known. Cultural competency programs can provide training to health care and community providers to deliver compassionate and quality care for older adults.
This webinar will review the partnership with SAGE and the California Association of Area Agencies on Aging and how SAGEcare, the organization’s cultural competency training program, is provided to the local Area Agencies on Aging (AAA). AAA State Associations will also share their efforts and challenges in providing cultural competency training within their state.
